PM Scholarship 2025-26: The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme is a financial assistance program designed to support the education of the dependents of ex-servicemen, paramilitary personnel, and police officers. Launched by the Government of India, this initiative encourages higher education by providing scholarships to deserving students pursuing professional courses such as engineering, medicine, law, and management.

The scheme is managed by different departments, including the Kendriya Sainik Board (KSB) for defence personnel and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) for paramilitary and Police forces. The PM Scholarship helps students achieve their academic and career aspirations by easing the financial burden of education.

PM Scholarship 2025-26

PM Scholarship is a central government initiative that helps the dependant children of ex-servicemen, Coast Guard, Police and defence personnel or martyrs pursue their higher education. Prime Minister Scholarship Scheme, started in 2006-07 by the central government, Kendriya Sainik board and ex-servicemen welfare department to extend financial support to their family’s children in achieving their dreams.

PM Scholarship 2025 applications will likely begin in October 2025, and the window is expected to remain open for 2-3 months. PM Scholarship Scheme 2024-25 Last date of application was 3 January 2025, which is the extended date from 30 December 2024.

PM Scholarship Scheme is a financial aid program made especially for the dependent wards or widows of ex-servicemen, coast guards, BSF and other defence personnel in pursuing their higher studies (above class 12th). To apply for the PM Scholarship scheme online, visit the official portal of the Kendriya Sainik board: www.ksb.gov.in

To be eligible for applying for the PM Scholarship Scheme online, the applicant must be a dependent ward or window of the ex-servicemen, Coast Guard, deceased CAPFs & AR or defence personnel. Should have applied or enrolled for the undergraduate program in any recognised university and must have scored 60% or above in the previous year of high school, undergraduate courses or diploma. 

Eligible and qualified applicants get ₹2,500 (Boys) and ₹3,000 (Girls) per month until the course ends. Central Government and ex-servicemen welfare department disburse 5500 scholarships annually for boys and girls (equally). Students who want to apply can visit ksb.gov.in before the deadline. They must submit essential documents, such as proof of admission, academic certificates, and papers showing they are eligible for the scholarship.

The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (PMSS) is a unique program by the Indian government that helps students from specific backgrounds with their education. This scholarship is mainly for the children of ex-servicemen, ex-coast guard personnel, and widows of defence personnel who have died in service. It aims to support these students in pursuing higher education.

PM Scholarship Yojana Online Registration 2025 will begin in October 2025 at the official portal of the Kendriya Sainik board and will remain open until 31 December 2025. To be eligible for the PM Scholarship Yojana, students must:

Be the child of an ex-serviceman, ex-coast guard personnel, or a widow of defence personnel who died in service. Completed their 12th grade (or equivalent) with at least 60% marks and enrolled in a professional course like Engineering, Medicine, Dental, Veterinary, MBA, MCA, or other similar courses.

PM Scholarship for 12th Pass Student

PM Scholarship scheme is a supportive program made exclusively for 12th-pass students and children of deceased or ex-servicemen, defence personnel, coast guards and Reserved police force staff. PM Scholarship for 12th-pass students aims to help a selected group pursue higher education in any field.

It offers ₹36,000 and ₹30,000 annually for girls and boys, respectively, which is ₹3,000 and ₹2,500 monthly. To be eligible for the scholarship scheme, every student must have a minimum of 60% in all their major subjects in their previous year of class 12th, diploma or graduation.

PM Scholarship 2025 Amount

The PM Scholarship amount is divided into two categories: boys and girls applicants, depending upon their eligibility for the PMSS (Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme) initiated in 2006 by the Department of Ex-Servicemen Welfare under the Ministry of Defence. The primary objective of this scheme is to encourage higher technical and professional education among the dependent children and widows of Ex-Servicemen (ESM) and Ex-Coast Guard personnel.

Approximately 5,500 scholarships are given annually, equally between boys and girls (2,750 each). The scholarship provides financial assistance throughout the tenure of the chosen course or higher education program, ranging from one to five years. The scholarship amounts for Male Students is ₹2,500 per month and ₹3,000 per month for Female students, adding up to ₹30,000 and ₹36,000, respectively. PM Scholarship amount is disbursed annually to the selected students who clear the eligibility requirements and academic qualifications.

The PMSS is designed to provide financial assistance for higher education, ensuring that students and children of people belonging to the armed forces and defence personnel have the necessary support to pursue their academic goals. PM Scholarship Eligibility criteria involves the following:

Applicants must be wards or widows of the Armed forces personnel

  1. Wards and widows of Ex-Servicemen (Army, Navy, Air Force) and Ex-Coast Guard personnel) and martyrs of any defence unit or Central reserve police force (CRPF) and deceased CAPF & AR personnel who lost their lives in action.
  2. Wards and widows of serving personnel who died in harness

Educational Qualification:

  1. Candidates must have passed 10+2, have a diploma, or have earned at least 60% marks in the last qualifying exam.
  2. The scholarship is available for professional degree courses such as engineering, medicine, pharmacy, dental, veterinary, law, and management.
  3. Distance learning courses are not eligible.

PMSS (Prime Ministers Scholarship Scheme) offers scholarships to the families of state police personnel under the Ministry of Home Affairs for PMSS.
